Day 1: Arrival in Cusco  

Cusco is located at 3400 (11200 feet) meters above sea level.

Welcome to Cusco, the historical capital of Peru! Upon arrival, a representative from the Machu Picchu Explorer travel agency will be awaiting you to transfer you to your hotel. Cusco, also known as the "bellybutton of the world" is a charming place. You will be able to get to experience its architectural beauty, its traditional neighborhoods, the beautiful Plaza de Armas (its main square), as well as its various gastronomical delights.
Cusco's main points of interests are the Cathedral, the Temple of the Sun (known as the Qoricancha), the San Blas district and San Pedro market among many others.
We recommend that you take the first day to rest and become acclimated to the altitude.

Day 2: Cusco City Tour     

The city of Cusco is one of the most important destinations of Peru. It was the ancient capital of the Inca empire, with its streets and buildings still reflecting its grand historical past. Due to this, the city is known as “the belly button of the world”. In the morning/afternoon, our professional guide will accompany you to discover the best of this Inca city. We will begin by visiting the Temple of the Sun (also called Qoricancha). After, we will visit the treasures that the Basilica Cathedral of Cusco has to offer, and then finish by visiting the ruins adjacent to the city, Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay.
In the evening, spend at your leisure enjoying the local cuisine, music, and the lights of Cusco at night, the surrounding hills and the sky overhead littered with stars

Day 3: Cusco - Sacred Valley

Our third day will begin by visiting the wonderful landscape of the magical Sacred Valley, home to several royal estates of Incan emperors. First, you will visit the town of Pisac, famous for its indigenous market and for the beautiful Incan ruins that overlook the city. In the market, you will have the opportunity to browse the beautiful handicrafts, local fruits, vegetables, and other natural products. While exploring the Pisac ruins above, you’ll be delighted by the magic of the the valley, its architecture will allow you to understand the harmony between the Inca constructions and nature. After visiting Pisac, we will stop for lunch, we’ll enjoy a variety of Peruvian and international food near the town of Urubamba. Next, we’ll visit the spectacular fortress of Ollantaytambo. This magnificent place was part of the royal estate of the Incan emperor Pachacuteq. The small town of Ollantaytambo still keeps the houses that Inca used to live in, narrow streets and beautiful canals are part of this.

Day 4: Ollantaytambo - Huilloc

Today we will meet our friends of Huilloc, an Andean community at 12 Km away from Ollantaytambo. We will be welcomed by our host family, who will explain us about their daily activities in the community. Then you will be able to take part in working the land, feeding the animals and even make a ritual to thank the Pachamama. We will enjoy a traditional lunch sharing time with our hosts. After a nice walk in the afternoon, we will spend the night with a local family in one of their traditional houses.

Day 5: Huilloc - Ollantaytambo - Aguas calientes

Early in the morning we will share a nice breakfast with the family, and enjoy the last moments of our homestay in Huilloc. We’ll be back to Ollantaytambo in order to take our train heading to Aguas Calientes, (one hour and a half of journey) where we’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 6: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Machu Picchu is located at 2400 meters above sea level (7,900 feet).

This will be a memorable day during your visit in Peru, given that you will see one of the Wonders of the World that all travelers dream of visiting, we mean the historical sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Early in the morning, our professional guide will pick you up from your hotel to board the bus to the Machu Picchu citadel all together (20 min trip). Once in Machu Picchu, you will visit the farming and urban zones, as well as its main temples. The tour will take about an hour and a half, after which you will have time to explore the ancient city on your own as well as take additional photographs.

In the afternoon, we will return to Cusco on a comfortable train.

Day 7: Depart Cusco - Lima

Flight time: 1h10 minutes

Last day in Cusco! Ideal for doing some additional shopping as well as visiting other points of interest. After experiencing this authentic journey through the Inca's land, we will accompany you to the airport to board your flight.
