Day 1: Arrival in Cusco  

Cusco is located at 3400 (11200 feet) meters above sea level.

Welcome to Cusco, the historical capital of Peru! Upon arrival, a representative from the Machu Picchu Explorer travel agency will be awaiting you to transfer you to your hotel. Cusco, also known as the "bellybutton of the world" is a charming place. You will be able to get to experience its architectural beauty, its traditional neighborhoods, the beautiful Plaza de Armas (its main square), as well as its various gastronomical delights.
Cusco's main points of interests are the Cathedral, the Temple of the Sun (known as the Qoricancha), the San Blas district and San Pedro market among many others. 
We recommend that you take the first day to rest and become acclimated to the altitude.

Day 2: Cusco City Tour     

The city of Cusco is one of the most important destinations of Peru. It was the ancient capital of the Inca empire, with its streets and buildings still reflecting its grand historical past. Due to this, the city is known as “the belly button of the world”. In the morning/afternoon, our professional guide will accompany you to discover the best of this Inca city. We will begin by visiting the Temple of the Sun (also called Qoricancha). After, we will visit the treasures that the Basilica Cathedral of Cusco has to offer, and then finish by visiting the ruins adjacent to the city, Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay.
In the evening, spend at your leisure enjoying the local cuisine, music, and the lights of Cusco at night, the surrounding hills and the sky overhead littered with stars

Day 3: Cusco - Sacred Valley - Aguas Calientes

The Sacred Valley lies at 2800 meters above sea level (9,190 meters).
Aguas Calientes lies at 2040 meters above sea level. (6,690 feet).
Travel time between Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes: 1 hour 40 min by train.

Our adventure continues onto the Sacred Valley of the Incas, an enigmatic place whose fertile, beautiful lands and gorgeous landscapes were intelligently taken advantage of by the ancient Peruvian people. Our first visit will be to Pisac, a greatly important archaeological site whose shape and construction are inspired by a local bird (the Puna partridge). Straight away, we will visit the local market, famous for its products that they trade there. In the afternoon, we will go on towards Ollantaytambo, a place that clearly shows how the Incans designed their cities with narrow streets and lovely canals, all in harmony with its natural environment. We will then visit the fortress of Ollantaytambo with its spectacular Incan terraces that will take our breath away, not to mention the spectacular views of the Sacred Valley from them! At the end of the afternoon, we will board the train to our next stop, the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu town.

Day 4: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Machu Picchu is located at 2400 meters above sea level (7,900 feet).

This will be a memorable day during your visit in Peru, given that you will see one of the Wonders of the World that all travelers dream of visiting, we mean the historical sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Early in the morning, our professional guide will pick you up from your hotel to board the bus to the Machu Picchu citadel all together (20 min trip). Once in Machu Picchu, you will visit the farming and urban zones, as well as its main temples. The tour will take about an hour and a half, after which you will have time to explore the ancient city on your own as well as take additional photographs.

In the afternoon, we will return to Cusco on a comfortable train.

Day 5: Cusco - Puno

The city of Puno is located at 3800 (12470 feet) meters above sea level.

Our stay in Cusco will culminate with great memories! Today we will continue our adventure’s course onto the city of Puno, whose main attraction is the highest navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca. Early in the morning, we will board a tourist bus that will transfer you to the “Ruta del Sol” (Sun Route) which leads you to Puno. We will visit emblematic places such at Andahuaylillas and its famous dome, the Racchi archeological center, and the pre-Inca site of Pukara.

Day 6: Puno - Lake Titicaca - Amantani

A special day waits for us today: A cruise on the highest navigable lake in the world. Sights include the famous artificial islands built of bamboo by the Uros people, a native community of the Andean highlands. Then we arrive in the Island of to discover the traditional life that flows on the Lake Titicaca. We make a short hike of about an hour to reach the heart of the island. The sunset on the Lake Titicaca will leave you memorable images. Once on the Island, we will be welcomed by members of the community, a great chance to spend a wonderful time with a local family.

Day 7: Amantani - Taquile - Puno

Our experience in the lake Titicaca continues, we will visit the neighbor island, Taquile. This small island in Lake Titicaca it’s worth a must see. Their local members are well-known for their traditional textile activity: In Taquile, men learn how to knit from 8 years old, the women, they weave the thread, and this for generations! After visiting the Islands, we go back to Puno.

Day 8: Puno - Lima

The last day of your trip to Peru arrived, you leave today Puno heading to Juliaca airport for a flight to Lima. Have a nice trip back!
