Entrance ticket to Machu Picchu
The easiest way to buy your tickets to Machu Picchu is online. Go to www.machupicchu.gob.pe and buy them with your credit card. If you do not know how to do it, we have prepared a quick guide where we show you step by step how to buy your tickets to Machu Picchu online. You can also buy the tickets to climb the Huayna Picchu Mountain, remember that there are 2 groups (at 7 am & 10 am) for which we recommend that you book it at least 3 months in advance. We invite you to read a post in which we talk about the experience of climbing the Huayna Picchu Mountain.
On the other hand, we clarify that the tickets for children and students can now be purchased online, you can also buy them personally in the Cusco office. If you need more information or assistance regarding your tickets to Machu Picchu, do not hesitate to contact us.
Train tickets can also be purchased online. There are 2 companies that offer train tickets, Peru Rail and Inca Rail. Visit their websites and select the schedules you want to buy. There are 2 train stations, Poroy (20 min from Cusco) & Ollantaytambo (1 hour 30 from Cusco). The trains will depart from one of these 2 stations depending on the availability of your tickets. The easiest way to get to the train station is by taxi, these can be requested at your hotel (most of the hotels work with reliable taxi companies) or you can use any cab application.
Also, we have prepared a great post regarding trains to Machu Picchu. There are plenty of schedules as well as train services. So this useful guide will help you select the best option for you. For any assistance, feel free to drop us a message, we’ll be glad to hear from you.
Once in Aguas Calientes, you will have 2 options; You can walk up to the Inca citadel (about 1 hour 30 min) or you can take the bus (20 min). To buy the bus tickets you can make them online through the following site www.consettur.com. You can also buy them directly in the town of Aguas Calientes. Our advice is simple, buy it online since very often (especially during high season) the queues are huge and travelers waste time buying tickets instead of enjoying more time in Machu Picchu.
