Every year, the Ministry of Culture announces the new Machu Picchu ticket price for visitors to book them. In this post, we will tell you about the new rates for 2024.
Machu Picchu Entrance Ticket: Rates 2024

As every year, the official rates to visit Machu Picchu have been recently published. The current prices will be available until December 31st.
First, let’s walk through the different types of tickets that you can get.
Types of Tickets
1) Machu Picchu Ticket Offical Circuit 1 or 2
This is the most common ticket. It allows you to visit the site and enjoy the panoramic view. The cost of this ticket is 152.00 Peruvian soles (US 45.00) for adults. The students can benefit from a discount by presenting their student card, in which case the cost is 77.00 Peruvian soles (US 23.00). Wait, what about the children? Right, we didn’t forget them. According to the new rates, children from 3 years old will now pay for their entrance ticket. The new price is 70.00 Peruvian soles (US 21.00). Children under 3 years old have free entrance.
2) Machu Picchu CIRCUIT 4 + Huayna Picchu Ticket
This ticket is one of the most demanded. It allows you to visit not only Machu Picchu, but also hike the famous Huayna Picchu Mountain
The cost is 200.00 Peruvian soles (US 56.00) for adults and 125.00 Peruvian soles (US 35.00) for students & children.
Note that only 400 spots per day are available, that’s why we highly recommend getting your Huayna Picchu tickets in advance, especially during the peak season (May-August). Learn more about the Huayna Picchu mountain and why it’s a must!
3) Machu Picchu CIRCUIT 3 + Mountain
What if I don’t get the Huayna Picchu Ticket? Hopefully, you have another alternative as great as the Huayna.
If you like hiking, we recommend getting the Machu Picchu CIRCUIT 3 + Mountain ticket. The cost is 200.00 Peruvian soles (US 56.00) for adults and 125.00 Peruvian soles (US 35.00) for students & children.
Similar to the Huayna Picchu tickets, only 400 spots are released every day, so make sure to buy your tickets quite in advance.
4) Machu Picchu Circuit 4 + Huchuy Picchu
This is a new ticket that was introduced last year. The Circuit 4 + Huchuy Picchu ticket is a combination ticket that allows you to visit the lower part of Machu Picchu and hike up Huchuy Picchu, a smaller mountain located next to the more famous Wayna Picchu. It is a moderate hike that takes approximately 1 hour to complete. The cost of this ticket is 152.00 Peruvian soles (US 45.00) for adults
5) Machu Picchu Circuit 1 or 2 + Inca Bridge
The Machu Picchu + Inca Bridge ticket is a great option for visitors who want to experience the best of Machu Picchu. In addition to visiting the site itself, you’ll be able to hike the Inca Bridge, this is a unique stone and wood suspension bridge constructed by the Incas to cross the Urubamba River. If you couldn’t get the ticket Machu Picchu Circuit 1 or 2, you can select this one and have the same access. The cost of this ticket is 152.00 Peruvian soles (US 45.00).

Currently, students can benefit from a direct discount. Only a valid Student ID card is required to access this benefit. Make sure that your card shows the following elements:
- Your card must show your full name, photo, and the name of the University.
- Your card must show clearly the date of expiration in 2024 or 2025.

What should I wear to Machu Picchu?
1) Sunglasses and sun hat.
2) Comfortable shoes.
3) Long-sleeved shirts.
4) Bottle water and camera.
5) Sunscreen.

- Try to buy your ticket in advance (at least 2 months before your trip). Especially if you’re planning to come during the high season.

The best time to visit Machu Picchu is during the dry season (May-Aug), however I’d say that October isn’t that bad. Make sure to bring a raincoat and comfortable shoes.

An experiation date is mandatory in case you want to access to the student discount.
Yes, you can select the Circuit 2 as long as there’s availablity. Also, consider the option “Circuit 1 or 2 + puente Inka” which offers the same experience + a short hike to the Inka bridge.
